Who really controls what is historical fact or not...?

In the run up to the Iraq war a lot of people said that we didn't need to wait for Hitler to attack us before we declared war on Germany as justification for going after Saddam. I thought it was kind a hoot cuz any 2nd rate history buff knows Germany and Italy actually DID declare war on us first, Dec 9, 1941. We declared war on them TWO DAYS LATER, Dec 11, 1941. I have world almanacs dating back to 1983 and they all list that fact in the history section right up to the 2004... my 2007 and 2008 World Almanac Book of Facts does not show when Germany and Italy declared war on us only when we declared war on them... think about it for a minute. Now what do you think?
