Can anyone explain this graph to me?

The dashed lines indicate the line of exact correlation, frankly they shouldn't be there. One should really just compare the non-azotemic and the azotemic patients' percent ion-exchange; and note that there was little or no difference between methods with the non-azotemic samples, but there was with the azotemic samples. Whatever the hell azotemic means.
